PS - in terms of the length, I think it's engaging all the way through so I wouldn't worry about that (and I don't even know the people!)Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge #148 - £59.93

Thanks again for all the comments you were correct re the ushers and speakers so have removed those comments. Also put the London zoo joke back in.
I now some of the jokes will have been heard before, but it's so difficult to come up with some unique stuff!

I think its really good.
I helped my brother write a best mans speech for his best friend. Its definately harder than you first think!!
The things that went down best by a long way in that speech were the personal jokes and information. So IMO, I wouldn't shorten any of the middle bit. I didn't get bored reading it, and I don't know the people - so people in the room will definately appreciate it I think.
The bits that didn't go down so well in my brothers speech were the jokes we got off the internet, and also he put in there 'once we left school we weren't best buddys, until our paths crossed later on at ....' And apparently that got like a shocked reaction from the room - like how dare you mention you weren't always best friends. So i don't know if people will react to the bit where you say that nothing funny has happened to him?? Just a thought thats all, it certainly wouldn't bother me if i heard that in a speech.
I don't think the speech is too long. Just try to speak clearly, practice it out loud lots before the day, and remember to pause for laughter. You will be fine - good luck with it all

Good stuff! I laughed and thought it quite touching how you complimented your sister... You'll definitely gets laughs and probably a few tears from the female members of your family!

I really enjoyed reading it and my only comment is that your timing and pauses for emphasis etc are going to be really important so really practice your timing. It's really obvious you've put a lot of effort into it and i think it will pay off0

I just wanted to add don't worry too much about being funny. It doesn't matter it the Best Man's speech isn't laugh a minute.
Two of my best friends got married a few weeks ago and we are part of a really close knit group. The Best Man spoke about how B &G met and how they had both changed (mostly for the better). It had the odd joke in but nothing hillarious and because it was touching (and made me cry, and I'm sure a few others cry too) it didn't matter. When I was talking to him afterwards he told me that he had another speech written, but ended up writing that at about 3 am the night before the wedding. It was from the heart and definitely the best speech I've heard from a Best Man.0
