Hi there,
Am I right in saying you can't claim fees of £12? Such as overlimit or late fees?
Thanks

Have a read of the MSE guide to reclaiming credit card fees that explains the situation fully
Essentially it suggests you claim for all all overlimit & late payment fees, but it then explains the options if the company only offers refunds that are in excess of £12/charge"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
thanks - i've read it already and have actually claimed in the past (yrs ago)
i read that the following guidance the banks lowered their fees to £12 but its seems to suggest that you can only claim for fees over that?0 -

You can claim £12 fees from credit cards, the OFT report gave £12 as a suggested figure but they put clearly in the report that they were not saying that they was a fair amount or a genuine pre-estimate of costs. Have a look at the report. Most banks will try and offer the difference between the £12 and the higher charges first, it is up to you whether you accept that or not.0

ok thanks - so any charges since the oft report where they have been £12 - its worth a stab at reclaiming these but may be harder?0 -
Reclaimed all mine back and they generally gave in after the 2nd letter, just need to know what you're talking about as they rely on people not having the facts.0

so did you need to go to the FOS or court to get the £12 charges back?
or did you get the £12 charges back, after just telling the card company that you would goto court etc?0
