Owl party

Hi there
my DD is having a party at an owl centre and would like owl related items in the party bags. She also wants an owl cake but that's another story, lol.
However, I'm stuck as to what to put in her party bags? Was thinking maybe an owl book or some owl pencils and what else? Also can you point me in the right direction as to where to buy these from? Trying to be MSE too....
Many thanks
:)

  • Hi craftymummy

The party sounds great . . . what a lovely idea.

Personally, I am not a big fan of party bags with lots of bits and pieces in them (I find they can become quite costly)! I like to buy one thing as a gift instead.

Have you thought about a scraperfoil of an owl or something similar? Obviously depends on age etc of children involved (and amount of children to buy for too)!

    Hope this helps.

How about buying some cheap notebooks and covering them with some paper and then cutting out the bits to make an owl and stick them on the front. I am sure there are simple pics on the net you could use to copy. Would just really need the shape of the bird in one colour, the big eyes in another with the lines and dot drawn on in pen and then some little feet at the bottom. You could also put the children's names in them.

Wilkinsons do notebooks for about 49p which are great for covering.

If you can sew you could may be get some brown felt (or any colour you can get) and make little owls that you can then fit over the end of a pencil like a mini puppet kind of thing.

Also, if you can do the notebooks you could then buy some small bars of chocolate and cover them with some plain paper to match the books and cut out owls to go on them too so it all matches. Can sometimes buy a pack of 5 or 6 choc bars in Tesco or somewhere like that to cover.
  • thanks ladies there are some fab ideas here! i dont personally like party bags filled with loads of rubbish and never do them, but...kids like them. That's why i was thinking of just getting them a book about owls but it's proving difficult. The children will be aged 6-7 and mainly girls

you could make some fairy cakes to add to the bags with these there were lots of options this was just one of the cheaper ones... there was also a large topper but it was about £6 for to put on top of a large cake and it could be personalised with the childs name etc

Edging towards the crafty side here, could you buy some blank masks (like these for example - they might be available cheaper elsewhere), cut an old black feather boa or old pillow contents and get them to decorate their own masks? Having something they've created, combined with a small treat like a bit of cake or a bag of sugar mice, might be just the thing.
