Gas oven goes out

Please help, my gas range oven occasionally goes out after 2 or 3 minutes.
When this happens if you try to re-light it straight away it takes a fair while with the ignition button pressed in.
If you leave it another 5 minutes it re-lights no problem
Are there any gas oven engineers out there to tell me what's wrong or someone that can direct me to a website that explains how the oven works and the safety devices fitted.

I would hazard a guess that the safety device is faulty. This is a device that monitors the temperature of the gas jets and cuts off the flow of gas if it senses that there is no flame.
It is probably giving a false reading and cutting off the gas even though it is alight.0 -
how old is the cooker?
Im no gas fitter but could there be to much air mixing with the gas?
does the flame burn blue or orange?0 -
The range is 3 years old and the flame is blue.0

is your hot water also gas heated? Does the cooker go off when the hot water comes on?
I had the above problem a few weeks ago - and it turned out my gas meter was leaking !!!! Have a sniff around, just in case. I called British Gas (emergency number in the phone book), and they were round within the hour and fitted a new part to the meter - no charge.0 -
No problems with boiler or water only the range. I'm sure its a fault with the oven.
The problem is intermittent which makes it more annoying. And after it has done it once when its re-lit no problem
