Broken parcel shelf
Just bought a used Volkswagen Polo 2007 from a franchised dealer 2 days ago. Unfortunately, I didn't notice that one of the parcel shelf pivots was broken on one side before I bought it. Now, when I open the boot I have to manually adjust the shelf unit. Called the dealer, said there's nothing they can do as quite expensive to replace the shelf. Main dealer says the pivot is integrated into the parcel shelf and a new one will be £69.99 to replace. Any DIY ideas about how I can fix it? I doubt I would have a case to claim back from the dealer (and not expecting to). Help would be much appreciated.

Phone around your local scrap yards and see if they have any in, or look on ebay for one or someone breaking the same car. Much easier to just replace then mess about trying to get a dealer to sort it out. Its nothing major, however annoying it maybe.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Still waiting to hear back from the seller on ebay. Harvey, do you think I have a case for claiming back from the dealer? I didn't think I would, do you think it's worth writing to head office about it?0

Find out, (measure or compare), the diameter of the peg.
Sort thru your strong plastic 'stuff', biros and such to find a match, cut to length with a hacksaw or breadknife. Glue it in place with an epoxy adhesive...job done.:cool:C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down.
