Brilliant news, all the stress and tears can be put to one side.

Not going to kid ya, it is difficult, going through those 5 years I kept thinking why am I doing this I should just go BR. Just remember how you felt before you even started this process, sleep god I would be lying awake until early hours of morning figuring out how to pay bills.

My one way of thinking was 'It's my own bloody fault for being in this mess, you've 5 years to be back on course it's a gift horse", then it was 4, 3, 2, 1. Seems a lifetime but it does go quick just keep at it.

I'm back at work today, slept like a baby for the first time in god only knows how long! I know this is going to feel like a very, VERY long road to recovery, but it's the best thing for us. I'm sure plenty of other people are / were in the same boat we were.

For years, we would be keeping up with minimum payments, treading water and never getting anywhere, doing balance transfers when it all got a bit much. Then when the recession hit, the bottom kinda dropped out of our world and were just werent prepared for it. More fool us.

I lost my job but was lucky enough to get a redundancy pay out and clear a little bit of debt. I temped for silly money for 8 months, then found a job, paying £5k less than before. Then, Mr B lost his job but no redundancy. He couldnt even get a temp job for 18 months. Now he has a job but had to take a £10k pay cut. (Or 100% pay increase from nothing, as I like to see it!). It's been the toughest 3 years of our lives, but were still here, still healthy and still together.

If anything, this recession has taught us to be prepared! Neither of us were and we both paid the price for our foolishness in thinking that it'd never happen to us.

And I'm eternally grateful to everyone on this site, even though mostly I was lurking. You guys were a Godsend to me. Thank you all !! :beer: I've learned so much that I look back and think what an absolute pillock I was with the attitude I had back then!
