Help Please First Direct PPI?

I still owe First Direct £395 from a loan taken out. I now pay Metropolitan (MP) who deal with the account on their behalf. (I didn't miss a payment but failed to respond to a request for a financial statement - I did phone them to say there would be a delay but it was passed over within 10 days)
I wrote to First Direct requesting copy agreements of the original loan agreement, t&c's etc - using the template on here. I enclosed a cheque for £1 to First Direct. After many weeks I got a letter from MP saying I need to send them a cheque - so I rang them saying I had! That chq must have got lost so I was advised to send another. I did and that was cashed on 13/6. This morning I got a letter saying they are not in a position to respond to my request but once they are then they will issue the documentation.
I have read through the information on the site but remain confused. I took this loan out years back (I think 2001 or 2002) and recall paying lots in interest - though that has been frozen since my circumstances changed and my disposable income is so small. Any advice is much appreciated. Kind Regards Emma

Hi there, if i understood your post correctly, you want to claim for mis sell of ppi?.
If that is correct and you have the account number, then all you need to do is put a claim into First Direct.

People on this site have won mis sell from loans in the 90s, so if you feel you have been mis sold you need to look here for reasons for mis sell.

As the loan is still running they should find you from account number ,if you lived at a different address when the loan was taken out give them this, but also where you live now so they can contact you.0 -
Thank you for your reply Amersall. I am not 100% that I had PPI but feel it is likely taking everything into account. I wrote to them after reading how to start on MSE and was hoping the copy documents I requested would clarify this.
Thank you for your time and links - I appreciate that0
