Did you ask your daughter what she did and why the ATM swallowed the card? The card company can't control their cards being swallowed by an ATM.

If my under 18 years old child couldn't use a card properly at an ATM, I would not allow her just to take a card when travelling.

An ATM swallowed the card for a reason. Always have a back-up.

And have a back up for the backup, its been common sense for some time OP to have a backup and then a backup for that

I realise you're worried, but try to calm down and tell us the full story. I suspect no company will talk to you as you're not the account holder.

No card issuer can ever guarantee that their card won't be swallowed by an ATM - it can happen for any reason. The only way around it is to have an alternative way at getting access to some funds.

When I'm travelling I always leave a credit card in the hotel. It can be an expensive way of getting cash but in an emergency - if a card has been swallowed, lost or stolen - then it can be a life saver.
