Letter to occupier about electrics being inspected

this morning we got a letter through the post addressed to the occupier, asking us to return a form about whether our electrics have been inspected by a qualified electrician. they are asking about a 'check sticker' but i have no idea who the letter is from.

we rent and the electrics have been checked - no issue on that front, but i just have no idea who has sent this letter as they haven't identified themselves. i'm sure it's probably legitimate (why would you make this up?!) and it doesn't ask for any personal details, but it just seems a bit odd that whoever has sent the letter out hasn't made it clear who they are.

who keeps a register of this and why? it's not compulsory to have the check when renting, although it is quite common. even so, it's the responsibility of the LL not of any other agency. (is this just me being very paranoid for no good reason? :o)

fwiw, the return address is a PO Box in Leicester, and i can't find anything about it on google.

This just screams scam to me. Ignore it completely.
It will be from a company trying to scaremonger to get themselves overpriced checking and remedial work, or a scam to do work that is not needed.

i'm certainly not replying until i know what it is.... just very odd to me. plus a fairly well put together scam - the paperwork is very well done.

i should also add the return address on the envelope just goes to the same business park in Leicester as the PO box. forgot to add that earlier.

someone came to check the gas and electricity meters last week (they had a badge and weren't left alone, so didn't seem odd at all)..... now the paranoid part of me is wondering if it's connected......

I suppose you could just ask who are you & reply in the envelope

But as vuvuzela says, it is 100% scam, ignore it

Can you quote the postcode? It will then be available for others to google.

The paperwork can't be that well done if the letter isn't written on headed paper showing the business it's from. A PO Box address with no company name and no phone number. Hmm.
