Getting rid of rust?

I have some metal baskets or shelves in my bathroom that you attach to the tiled area around the bath with suction cups - for storing shower gel etc.
The metal is going rusty and it doesn't look very nice! Any ideas how to clean them up and get rid of the rust?
Thanks!

The are two ways you can get rid of it,
wire brush
Rust remover compound.
Problem is it will come back unless you seal the cleaned area with a varnish or rust inhibitor. Your best bet would be to go to a car parts shop like Halfords & look there.

I have read somewhere that WD40 removes rust very nicely.
Haven't had the chance to try it myself but it wouldn;t do any damage to do so.
Guess would spray it on and leave it for a couple of mins and then wipe off.
good luck0 -
I would use a wire brush as suggested above. Then paint the whole product with Hammerite metal paint0

It does remove rust but the is a danger of Dermatitis if it comes into contact with skin, especially if it's going to be used on a surface that will come into contact with bathroom hygene items.(soap/flannels ect)0 -
