hi all quick question:
scottish power have put prices up a lot for low users, and me and my fiance come into that category unfortunatly, with prepay useage approx £30 a month on each, gas and elec.
decided we want to change supplier and it will be most likely edf, having just taken over the prepay supply here when i bought it 2 years ago i have no idea what to do, my mum phoned for me when i moved in cos i was at work with no access to external calling
i want the switchover to be as smooth as possible so will make sure i ask for a day when i am off (i have a few days holiday coming up), just wondering what the process is, how much notice do i need to give to either side, am i guaranteed a day and what about break in service, will there be a period where i have no gas or electric?
sorry to sound naive but want to make sure i know what i am doing before i leap into it

There's no need to take a holiday - and you cannot ask to switch on a certain date.
All you do is decide which supplier you want (best to use a comparison site to see who would be cheapest for you) and having made a decision contact the new supplier (or go via a third party site if available, such as a comparison or cashback site) and ask to become their customer.
They will put everything in progress for you, starting with writing to you to allow you a cooling off period (in case you get second thoughts), then will contact you again telling you when the switch will actually happen (typically 4-6 weeks after you request it). On or about that day, they will probably ask you to supply a meter reading."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
