Pleased to hear your insurance know the full details0 -
If the policy is in your name then you are seen as the main driver, if your daughter is named on the policy she is a secondary driver, if your daughter uses the car the most the policy needs to be in her name, the call centre person you spoke to may be fine with this but I think Avivas legal team may see things differently if your daughter ever has an accident0

Here is an extract from my policy details:
About the drivers on your policy
Main DriverName MISS B (my daughter)Date of birth 06.10.1992Licence held for NoneConvictions NoneClaims in the past 4 years NoneEmployment status Employed/self employed/voluntaryMarital status SingleLicence Type Full UK car licenceSecond DriverName MRS H (me)Date of birth 24.05.1961Licence held for 9 YearsConvictions NoneClaims in the past 4 years NoneEmployment status Employed/self employed/voluntaryMarital status DivorcedLicence Type Full UK car licenceSo I hope everyone accusing me of fraud and fronting, will now acknowledge that their opinion is just that, opinion - and not fact.0 -
I have a friend who has what I think is the same policy from Aviva. And it was significantly cheaper than anything else they could find.
They were like you though - double and triple checked it with the insurers before they went ahead as it seems to be a fairly new option for young drivers.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I am sorry if it has offended you but perhaps if you had been more explanatory in your post it may not have caused this misunderstanding
You originally advised someone to be a named driver, (which is bad advice as this can be a case of 'fronting') you then stated that your daughter had her own car and you insured it with her as a named driver, if you had stated the correct information that she was actually the main driver on the policy then maybe the accusations may not have occurred.
People can only respond to what you have posted it is no good accusing people of opinions if you do not post all the facts how do think people can be aware of them, we are not psychic or mind readers.0 -
LovelyLeeds wrote: »This is not a case of me being the main driver - get your facts right before you make accusations.
I wasn't aware that I made any accusations, as if you re-read my post you will see that I stated that we didn't know all of the facts.
Your original post did not state what you have now said, as borne out by the other responses that what you had stated amounted to fronting the policy.
There have been cases on this forum where parents have fronted a policy without realising the repercussions of such action until the child was involved in an accident, and they then found insurance cover was cancelled or they were sued.
I would suggest that you read what people have written in an attempt to help you, before you reply so rudely.0 -

I made my position very clear further in to the thread and was still flamed. I made it clear that we were both named drivers, the policy and the car is in my name, my daughter is the main driver and a named driver, I am a named driver.0 -

No you did not in your original post you never mentioned that your daughter was the main driver, no one flamed you it was pointed out that based on what you posted it looked like fronting.0
