...to make the site look legit? or do they actually help the consumer?
The Withdrawn/Unauthorised/Nolongertrading pages on the ISIS site are empty suggesting they are asleep, their website date is copyright 2010. Their site certainly has lots of hot air.
I am currently at war with BTShop (aka Dabs) about a 6 month overdue refund and noticed it on their site and they have terrible customer service, yet good guys like Amazon don't seem to feel the need to plaster their web-pages with this kind of thing.
They are at the bottom of the imrg.org site (not a link - new user, sorry).
Are they to be applauded or shamed?

It seems that ISIS (Internet Shopping Is Safe) conduct a review of the business in question, and then add them to a database which allows the consumer to check if they are registered. It is an accreditation scheme run by IMRG, which is why the bulk of the info is on the IMRG website. I'll admit that there are a number of issues with the ISIS site itself, but as it doesn't really do anything, I wouldn't be too concerned by that.
ISIS seems to be a method of showing that a business is solvent and trading in the true sense of the word. It does not however look like a consumer help channel.
IMRG have a long list of clients, including a significant number of blue chip companies.
Google / Microsoft / Tesco / Paypal / Play.com / Nokia / Lloyds TSB / Parcelforce / Tiffany & Co.
I don't see that they would allow their name to be used if they weren't satisfied with the service they were receiving.0 -
Yes, that agrees with my own findings.
The rogues gallery of blue-chip clients is partly the reason for my distrust of it.0
