Washing liquid spots on clothing

I washed my load the other day and there were three large white spots on some black trousers that were in the load.

Why do this happen? How do you get rid of them without rewashing?

also, has anyone had holes made in their clothes by their washing agent? There were little holes in another item of clothing, a while back, and it wasn't moths:D

I used green liquid. I would understand if it was white powder

They're supposedly due to the water softening agent in the detergent, and are more obvious on dark clothing (as you've discovered!). Doesn't seem to be any way of getting rid of them other than by washing (but spot cleaning should be enough, not washing the whole thing.

The holes could have been caused by the clothing getting caught in the drum, or possibly you had an errant bra wire sitting beneath the drum that was sticking up and catching? Any metallic noises when the WM's on?

No to a bra or noises.

Our water is soft in Scotland, and have reduced the level of liquid because of this.

We tried to clean it but it is worse

    Check your spatt!

    :)

That's the big (usually grey) rubber seal around the door.

If it is distorted, or floppy because of age, and is sticking (or flopping) about inside the drum a bit - your clothes will get holes in them real fast.
