Our 2 year old cooker has solid Hotplates which over the last 6 months started to rust, is there a way to remove this or are there covers available to hide them when not in use?
many thanks Paul.

Wire wool and elbow grease?
If you want a more permanent result add some acid rust remover into the mix.0
