do they have the same cover as normal credit card do, like shopping protection if something wrong? cancel payment etc

No protection at all with prepaid cards, its exactly like cash if you lost it its lost.

what about if there's dispute over the payment, would they help at all.

There are loads on internet, are they all legal?

they charge for loading and using the card, that means for those without a good credit history, they are always getting the worst deal?!

I ask as I thinking to get one to use aboard.

Not sure about it any more...without any purchase protection, it's not good at all.

They are all perfectly legal - have you noticed one thing though - they do not call themselves pre-paid credit cards just pre-paid cards.
You never actually borrow money on these cards so you don't get S75 protection in times of trouble.

I am happy to be corrected if any poster has had help from one of these card issuers.
