Beware Buying Prescription Glasses on Line

Hi All, I have just used Selectspecs and purchased two pairs of Bifocal glasses. One pair were Polarised sun glasses. The total cost being £90. However when they arrived I could not see through them and was told that I had entered my prescription wrongly. They charged me a further £70 to replace the lenses. Now I am sure I entered the details correctly as this is the third set of glasses I have bought on line, the other pairs being from different providers and I have never had a problem before. The form on the Select specs web site does not allow you to print off a copy on completion as proof of what you have ordered. Other sites do. The safest way of buying with selectspecs is to fax your prescription form to them, and dont fill in the online form. I now have my glasses and they are fine and good quality as they should be for what I had to pay in the end. In future I will use see4less who are excellent, it was just that they did not have the frames in that I wanted, at that time. Hope this helps.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Reported as spam, blatantly naming and shaming one company and then dropping in its rivals name at the end?0

Why spam?
The OP is complaining about one company and stating that another one gave better service.
After all, This is the Praise, Vent & Warnings board, which appears to be exactly what the OP is using it for.0 -
OP, you can print off what you ordered/entered on selectspecs, I did it gyesterday when I wanted to order more pairs. I found it after logging in, finding a tab saying 'orders' or something like that at the top, then you find the order and it has a little link 'view prescription details' which pops up a little window - and you can take a screenshot! Terrible technical design there and on other parts of the site, but it is there and doable. If the silly tiny popup window doesn't come up from that link, try another browser. I used firefox 4 and had to enable javascript for the popup to work if I remember right!0

Red Squirrel.
Your order confirmation should state the prescription you entered. As I don't know your order number I cannot check to see what the problem was exactly, however, the most common problem we see is customers choosing minus values instead of plus values, so I'm imagining this is the case. We do ask customers to check this information is correct before placing the order or to attach, fax or post the prescription.
We do have a site upgrade coming soon, and all prescriptions will be stored in your account for future reference.“Official Company Representative
