Divorce/ House in Ex's name

Hello!
I'm going through a fairly amicable divorce from my ex-husband. Well, I say amicable, there's been no huge fights yet!
Just asking for a bit of advice really....my ex husband and I lived in a house he owned. Prior to our marriage, we were engaged for a number of years and lived seperately, both in rented accomodation. As a 'suprise' he bought a house in his name solely. I had no knowledge of this til he got the keys and presented them to me and believe me it was not the house I would have chosen but I moved in, we did it up, I contributed to the bills, mortgage, maintenance etc on a 50/50 basis.
After our marriage he said he would arrange to put me on the deeds but we never got around to it
Anyway, we seperated and recently we've started divorce proceeding. We've had the decree nisi and now my solicitor has sent me a letter asking if I wish to pursue an interest in the house?
I had assumed (mainly because no-one had said anything different) that I would not be entitled to anything from the house other than my chattels. The house is probably only worth what it is mortgaged for (£90,000), I know from talking to the ex, he would not be keen to sell the house and as such, I don't want to take it on to live in as I live 250 miles away now.
We do have a child together and my solicitor mentioned something about being entitled to pursue an interest because of the need of our son to be housed?
I'm unsure about pursuing anything, I had always assumed he would get everything and that was that, so that's taken me by suprise.
Just wondering, if I did decide to pursue (which I'm not inclined to as it would disadvantage our son if his father has no home or no money to see him), what type of 'thing' would the solicitors be talking about? As there is no or little equity I can't see selling being an option?

If it is only worth what it is mortgaged for, and you have settled elsewhere and have no need to live there, then the only winner is the solicitor.0

This was my concern, I wondered if this was the case or whether there was any true benefit to me.
I have doubts there is and I don't want to talk to the ex about it as I don't really want to turn things nasty when there is no need.
My solicitor seems vague and says I need to come in to chat about it (obviously racking up my bill!) but I've managed most of the process myself thus far....0
