delivery address wrong - Royal Mail

Basically I ordered a few items on my credit card from a company. The address I asked the item to be delivered to was right in all details except the fact that the country was wrong! Its my fault but because I ordered on my phone the country got accidently set to France!
Therefore the item was despatched by Royal Mail International to the wrong country! Now obviously this is my own fault so I can't blame the company I ordered from (who have washed their hands of it anyway). However when Royal Mail get the parcel in France they will soon realise that the address is invalid. Will they return the item to the sender or will it eventually get to where it should be going?

They should eventually return it to sender as undeliverable, but this has been known to take an age.
Word of caution, there is no royail mail in France, its La Poste and you will need to hope they do reject it as unknown.
At the same time, the company you bought from should have noticed as the Franch postal codes are 5 numbers - the only postal codes to contain numbers and letters are Canada and the UK (others sometimes abbrieviate the state into the postal code, but its not officially required).0 -

But I'll string you along a bit before making my guess...
From what country was the parcel sent?0 -
Yeah it was only £20 worth of goods, but its a bit irritating as the whole address was obviously an English address, right down to a UK county (Lancashire) and a UK post code. These days everything is automated though so nobody would check and I assume the Royal Mail sorting machines start at the bottom and work up so will just see France and send itthere!
The parcel was posted from the UK
I'll cross my fingers and hope it turns up but I am not holding my breath! If they do return to sender it sounds like they'll just keep it anyway and not refund me (its the Manchester City official store which is quite a shoddy operation)This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
