Suzuki swift - starting problem!

Apologies if this is not the correct place for this post but, as a lady driver with very limited knowledge of vehicles, I'd appreciate any help!!

My Suzuki Swift is just under 3 years old, had it since new, however twice in the last 2 months it has failed to start. When I turn the key the dashboard lights flicker dimly but the engine doesn't tick over and there's a faint clicking noise. The first time I called out Suzuki Assist who recovered my car to my "nearest" Suzuki dealer which happens to be almost a 100 mile round trip from me!! On arrival, they said there was nothing wrong with it and it started first time. I then had to make my own way out there to collect it - very annoying!!

The same thing has just happened today. I tried to start the car, no luck, flickering lights, engine dead, so I left it for 30 mins and tried again - it started first time. However I noticed that the dashboard clock is approx 30 mins out of sync. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be causing this? I'm reluctant to have it taken into the garage again, via Suzuki Assist, as this will involve another 100 mile round trip if they can't find anything wrong with it.

A guy at work said it may be the battery, however, when it wouldn't start I tried the headlights and they came on fine.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Your headlights will still work with a tired battery. Get the battery tested locally.

If it's intermittent, Iand bearing in mind it's only 3-years old, I'd say it's more than likely an electrical/wiring fault, possibly to do with the battery, but maybe not localised to it. I suggest you have a garge that deal with auto-electrics take a look at it.

there is no easy answer without having the car in front of you
both suggestions are quite feasible so far
realistically it does need to go back to suzuki swiftly:)

    It's about power.
You might have enough power to run 2 headlights, 2 parking lights and 2 tail lights = 50x2+5x2+21x2 = 152watts = 11.7amps. But your starter motor draws anything from 60 to 200 amps.
