Taboo at Npower's position
Hi all,
I'm desperately looking for some help here.
Scottish Power is my current electric supplier at my new flat. They put me on the standard package when I first register with them. Now they are offering me a Cap Price (until June 2013) package which looking very attractive and will not be affected by the rise in August.
Npower is the supplier at my old flat. Of course they are trying to retain me by trying to convince me to switch to them (the new flat). Got the prices from them, which are lower than Scottish Power's Cap Price package.
Bear in mind that Npower hasn't announce their positon on the rising price yet. Basically I could be doomed if I switch to them now and they suddenly decide to rise the price next month.
I don't like uncertainty, which Npower put me in now. I really want to get out from this standard package of Scottish Power to save me some pennies!
Please help!
Chloe

I'm afraid you seem to be asking the impossible here to me Chloe - asking us to predict the future with certainty.
Will Npower (and others) put prices up before long? Probably yes, but at the moment no one can tell you that for absolutely sure nor to what extent they may rise.
From your post it would seem that if you want the cheapest rate you can get now Npower seem to be offering the lower rate at the moment. (Have you checked out other companies than these two?)
If you want "certainty" then a capped (or even a fixed) rate would appear to be a better bet for you.
Presumably either will "save you some pennies" so the choice is yours.0
