i've applied for JSA online and today got a call setting up an interview for monday morning (4 days/2 working days) i'm 18, have just finnished full time education and the only ID i can think of is my passport, i don't have a drivers license, no bills, no bank statement(online banking[never check that anyways, no overdraft and ussually withdraw all my money straight away) and no birth certificate(my dad lost it years ago), i have my college id card but that is badly damaged(only got half of it and this contains my photo and part of my name), is there anything else i could use for id?

Someone hopefully with direct experience here will advise but I would think for the DWP a passport will be more than sufficient. For anti-money laundering type activity at banks, solicitors etc they'll tend to also look for confirmation of address as well as name.
If you have your NI card then take that too... since your NI number is your unique identifier to the DWP and the fact you have the card is telling. But I'd be surprised if a current valid passport isn't enough here. Take your mangled college ID card.. can't do any harm..lol.
In terms of proving identity generally in future. I would advise making sure you're on electoral roll. That you try to get a situation where an organisation you are financially tied to (e.g. bank, utility provider) provides a 3 monthly paper based statement or similar. I tend to keep my water billing in paper format and all other statements etc electronic...lol... just in case. As you get older you'll probably find more avenues for proving your name/address arise..lol.
Note you can always request a copy of your birth certificate. But a British passport is a far more powerful proof of name/identity."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

Not sure. Could be highly dependant on several factors including where you live.
But if you are interested, this is the place to start. http://local.direct.gov.uk/LDGRedirect/index.jsp?LGSL=323&LGIL=0"Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -
