Online purchase, goods never shipped, STILL chasing for a refund

Hi

I recently purchased a mobile phone online. After waiting nearly 2 weeks they retailer still couldn't tell me when it was likely to ship (even though their website quoted as having stock and 1 to 2 business days). I then cancelled the order, in writing, TWICE. I have been chasing them since to find out when I am likely to have a refund and their last response was to assure me it would within the next 3 to 5 working days and it has now passed this time and I'm still waiting (again) for them to respond.

I'd really like to know where I stand on getting a refund for goods never actually received. It was for around £275. I'm starting to get a bit worried....

Thanks

Retailers usually have up to 30 days to make a refund from the day you inform them of cancelling.

When did you tell them you had cancelled ?

    If they don't refund...
If you payed by Credit Card then you have further protection with S75.

If you payed by Debit Card then you may still be covered under the Chargeback scheme.

Did you pay them direct or through an agent like Paypal, etc?

It hasn't been 30 days yet since I told them I wanted to cancel.

I paid by debit card via Google Checkout.

Well, as stated, give them 30 days and then approach your card company and ask them to do a Chargeback for goods not received.

Just as a side note - if you are going to make purchases on the internet (or anywhere for that matter) then I would seriously consider getting a Credit Card as opposed to a debit card - it offers a greater level of protection under the S75 rules. Just ensure you pay the balance off in full when you get the statement.

If you paid by credit card, contact them and make a claim under section seventy-five of the consumer credit act. If you paid by PayPal, open a dispute with them.
