I rented out a game for my DS last Sunday - it was £5 for five nights and was told it was due back Sat. However when we got it home we found it did not work, due to work commitments I could not return it until Tuesday night. The sales assitant put the game into a 'cleaning' machine and gave it cack to us saying the game would now not be required to be returned until Monday 20th. We returned it on Monday. I checked my bank account and saw that they have taken two £2 transactions from my account!
I called the shop, only to be told that these charges are for 'late fees'. I pointed out what had in fact happened and also that they have huge posters everywhere advertising that they have 'no late fees'!
The assistant dismissed the 'extra' days saying the person who served me did not have the authority to extend my rental and 2) there are no late fees but they do charge an extra £1 per night (is this not a late fee)? anyway even then we should have been charged only £2 (for the extra two nights). Shop refuse to do anything about this - anyone else here had a similar experience and how did you go about solving it?

Do you plan on using them again anytim soon?
As you will likely get a letter in a few weeks along the lines of 'you owe £x -- but if you rent something within the next 14 days we will waiver this'.

I assume the OP has already had the money taken for the "late fees"
OP - you could try writing to their head office and explain what happened and see what they say?Our registered address is Harefield Place, The Drive, Uxbridge, Middlesex, UB10 8AQ.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
Yes they have taken money from my account - twice the amount of the 'late fee'!0
