Credit check addresses questions

in Credit cards
Hi guys,
I have just been offered a conditional job offer from a company which requires a full credit check before I am offered a contract. Although it did not state it on the original application form, I now have had a call from HR saying they would like all my student addresses in my time at uni.
I am sure my credit rating is not excellent as I have been in my overdraft since I began at uni (left in September), but I have had a credit card for a couple of years now and my limit has risen from £100 to £800, because I have been paying it off in full every month.
My problem is I unknowingly defaulted on a bill payment at my first student house, which I then paid in full as soon as I recieved a letter from a debt agency (roughly £180). I have copies of both my credit reports from Equifax and Experian and neither show this, and only one of uni addresses is on them (Hitachi Capital?), my address in 3rd year.
I am now worried this default is going to stop me from getting this job, but If I do not disclose this address is there anyway it can be linked? Even if I do disclose the address, the account was actually in slightly the wrong name (First name slightly different due to guy who took my details), so will this not show for this reason?!
Any suggestions are very welcome!

Don't worry, they're looking for signs of fraud, court action, bankruptcies, etc.
They are merely trying to screen out applicants that hace committed fraud and / or have been involved with court action for non payment of debt etc.
One tiny weeny old default that's settled and has been for years won't get in the way atall. Don't worry. My OH passed the verification checks with his employer (a well known mobile communications provider) despite having several outstanding, four figure defaults and an outstanding £18,000 CCJ on his credit file (!)
He no longer has the CCJ (was wrongly placed) but still has two settled defaults on file - one from 2006 and one from 2007.
We just passed the credit check for a letting agents, taking these defaults into account, without the need for a larger deposit or guarantor.

My only worry is they are a company governed by the FSA, and I havent told them I had a default (because I knew that address wasnt linked and they only asked for home addresses!). Are you sure it still wont mattter?
*Edit* I previously passed a verification check for another company, I did give the address with the default though I think! I just think this check is more detailed.
Cheers,

I'm pretty confident, yes. My mother worked for a company regulated by the FSA whilst still having a default with £12,000 outstanding glaring on her credit file a couple of years ago.
They just can't have people who've had a track record of fraud or debt-related court action working for them.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
