Honestly didn't know you could buy these til yesterday!
Leaving aside whether people believe in things like this or not, I find it a bit disturbing that the sellers ask for your full name, date of birth etc for a reading. A lot can be found from that on google..(yes I know name is on your invoice, but date of birth?)

why disturbing? you can get all that information from peoples Facebook profile if they don't have their info set to hidden0

Maybe disturbing is the wrong word. If I had that information on someone I could easily make up a reading based on what I found on google, guessing their life stage etc.
But then I suppose that goes back to whether people believe in this or not really.

I've occasionally done online readings (on a free site, not paid-for - I could never make it work for me on eBay, I was too down to earth, I didn't paper my listings with pictures of unicorns or fairies, I just showed people the cards I'd read for them). Good readers do have a gift - they also should give you more details about the future than just what they can find on Facebook. I've been pretty shocked with what some people came up with, and knowing how it works, it is more than just "selection" or "confirmation" bias - or it should be if they're good. Yes, some people are generally vague, but I was surprised at how it works myself. Don't knock it till you've tried it.
If you have your DOB/etc on the internet, it probably doesn't bother you in the slightest that you are giving them out to a reader anyway, or that you put them on a lot of forms, official and unofficial (e.g. when I bought my network railcard I had to put my DOB on the form). If you don't trust someone with your personal details, then buying anything using a form like this is strictly out."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
