Scotish power increase
WHY TRY TO SAVE ENERGY???
Well obviously to save money,.. Or that’s what I thought, I consider myself to be very energy conscious so try hard to reduce my electricity consumption but they caught me another way.
The next round of price increases on Aug. 1st. Have just been notified to me, ..
It would seem that because I am a low user of power they have left my kWh rate ( the amount they charge for the power) as it was, BUT they have increased my meter rental, (daily service charge)
By over 106% up from 15.23 pence per day, to 31.48 ppp. This will in fact rise my annual bill buy over 25% . And of course there is no way to reduce this cost by economizing on my consumption..
Of course had they increased my kWh charge by the planed amount my account would have increased but I would have the possibility to keep the cost down by reducing the amount of power I use,..
I was planning on installing some form of green power supply ie. Wind or solar, but now there is no point in in taking that direction … so much for being green then !!!!!!

The whole energy conservation thing seems to have been cynically dealt with by SP in this announcement.I would consider myself a on the low side of energy consumption. For this I am rewarded with a 47% increase if I was to apply these recent price hikes to my bill for the period April 1 to June 21.Spoke to SP today and frankly they just tend to fustrate you even more. They referred me to the Scottish Power fixed price offer. Not yet done the sums on this one.0
