We get our entitre package - (phone line, phone calls, tv and broadband) through Sky who will not let us use 1899 or similar to make phone calls overseas and charge us a fortune when we use their system. Does anyone know how we can overcome this problem? Thanks xxxx

Use Skype? If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Sky may be able to prevent you from using the 1899 prefix but they cannot stop you using 1899's 08081708708 freephone gateway number to make your calls.Nursepurse wrote: »We get our entitre package - (phone line, phone calls, tv and broadband) through Sky who will not let us use 1899 or similar to make phone calls overseas and charge us a fortune when we use their system. Most international calls are charged similarly to using the prefix via that route.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
If you have inclusive 01/02 geographical minutes you could use someone like www.localphone.com via a geographic number.
They dont raise connection or minimum call charges.:D0
