Unwanted/useless/pointless/naff presents

Shall we start a thread for all those sorts of presents, without being ungrateful? I think we should have a 'policy' that no-one belittles the fact that someone spent money to get them that present but only that "what do you do with it?"

What do you think - no offence to anyone here, just a bit of fun for post Christmas blues.

Absolutely: with a bit of luck and a few shopping days left until Christmas we can put people off BUYING such presents!

brill idea, if only my family would read it, i get so many "what the heck am i going to do with this and why did you buy this for me" presents every year, most of them go to the charity shop new year. The daft thing is family members are meant to know us so why do they buy things that just aren't us, why can't they just take a bit of time and think about what they are buying.

Smellies hate them i am an Avon lady my house is full of them already. Why buy me chocolate when you know i am on a Fat Free diet for my health there is my 2 pennnies worth!

I agreee.
Every year it's such a waste, people get crazy to buy presents for others and most of the time the presents are barely looked at.
Therefore it's long time since I reduced my Christmas shopping to the bare minimum (4 year old niece) and bring some nice bottle of wine or food and token presents if I am invited to lunch or dinner, and am very happy when family members or friends don't buy presents for me, but I know that the habits are difficult to change.
There is certainly a communication problem, people are afraid to ask and every one wants to impress the others without them knowing what we buy or how much we spend.

Last year my best friend bought me a selection of lipstick and lipgloss - I've known her years and have never worn any of the stuff. Not a naff present as such just completely wrong for me!

Why not post unwanted pressies on here after x-mas and see if anyone would like them.
I do give things to the charity shop but sometimes get a bit cross because I make the effort to box things up, park and lug them in and don't even get a thankyou from the staff!!
Would be happy to post things on here and send them to people that want them. People are so different5

I always get given some sort of smellies when people know all too well that I have ezcema and can't use them!!! I'd prefer if they'd just put £3 or so in an envelope!
I also seem to get jewelry, something I never wear.
I have to admit, these presents usually just get passed on as a Christmas/Birthday present for someone else.... it saves me money, and they're still being used!!

Great idea, then we can all get what we want, and those who gave us the unwanted will never know. Unless of course they are also doing the 'unwanted pressie swap shop'!:eek:
