Prepaid cards for Holiday cash

Is there ANY prepaid card that you can use at self service petrol pumps in France?

We will probably be getting petrol at stations where there are people, all the time, but it would be handy to know, just in case we get stuck in a little town in the middle of nowhere.

Also, are there any prepaid Visa cards? The only ones I can find are Mastercard.

Thanks in advance

Lou xx

There are a few Visa prepaid cards (e.g. Virgin Money). However, the best cards for use abroad are all Mastercard. Why do you particularly want Visa?

Even if the prepaid card does work in a petrol pump in France, I'm not sure I'd recommend doing it. The pump may preauthorize the maximum fuel spend, and it sometimes takes several days for preauths to drop from the account, so you may end up with some of your money locked out.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

On sundays and mondays, pretty much the only way to get fuel in some parts of France (and sometimes Italy) is via pumps that preauthorise a specific amount (just like the ones at morrissions where my co-op card doesn't work). The French ones for some reason don't always like UK card.

Both O2 and Travelex have PrePaid Visa cards.
