why can i never get 'approved' for anything?

    Somtimes it will take more than 12 months for 'approved' offers to appear on your profile. You can wait more than that time, or apply for those cards mentioned above. I recommend Barclaycard Initial.

    Even though you don't have 'approved' offers, you can still apply for a credit card with the bank. Some people have been successful doing that.

    get copies of your credit records; only then will you (and us) know what's on them
    maybe it is because you have no significant credit already or maybe there is a mistake on your files

    why speculate when you can know?

    I assume of course that you are on the electoral roll?
  • I have the same problem with lack of credit history.

    I work overseas a lot but I am a UK resident, registered living at my parents address, on electoral roll etc.

    Would it help my credit rating if I had a utility bill (water, electricity etc.) in my name on a direct debit?

    It has been written in the past that Lloyds TSB account holders can have a phrase along with their internal score. Does 'Credit Policy Decline' ring any bells ?
