New charity needing support.
Options
Hello. I would like to introduce our new charity UK Forces Support. My name is Melanie Mullen. I founded UKFS in April 2011. We send Care parcels to British troops serving overseas on operational duties and offer moral support to their families back home via our on line forum. We desperately would like to become a registered charity, but in order for this we need to have an estimated annual turnover of £5k. We have applied to become registered with HMRC for tax and gift aid purposes but would like to get to the next stage.
Although our primary aim is to support our serving personnel, our wish is to offer support in other areas too. Many of our representatives are quite keen to support things such as PTSD and Homeless ex servicemen and women. The way we aim to do this, is to liaise with charities who specialise in these areas and look towards helping to fund certain projects where needed.
At the moment we are desperate to reach our goal and get ourselves of the ground in order to move forward in other areas.
If you can help in any way or would like to know more about us please don't hesitate to get in touch. You can also visit our site. As a newbie I cant put a link up but you can Google us.
Thanks for reading x

Have Googled you and taken a look!
First thing I have to say is that when I Googled, there was a whole host of other Forces Support groups too. I guess that is where it becomes difficult for anyone who wishes to help our Forces-which one do you choose!!
Being ex Forces myself I must confess that I usually stick with the old 'known' ones like SSAFA, British Legion etc.
It is a shame that all the smaller groups can't combine as one major charity and simply have Groups in various locations around the country. That way the charity would no doubt easily raise £5,000 plus a year and people wouldn't have to 'choose' any individual charity. Groups could raise money locally and fund local things and raise money to keep the group going for a year with any excess going to a 'Head Office' of their Charity which could then be used as discussed/agreed by all the groups involved.
Just my thoughts0
