Excel like programme.

Hello, I'm on the hunt for an Excel (spreadsheets) like programme but don't really wish to pay for one; so I was just curious if anybody had any idea of one that could be downloaded safely and for free.

i'd go for open office too. A great free option. There's also google docs. tips for excel.com also recently articled how some new operating systems dont work well with Office (chrome OS) so there will be a move towards using Google Docs more and more

Maybe because Chrome OS was designed primarily as a thin client for running web apps. It is not really designed to run major apps that are normally based on your machine.

There is OpenOffice/LibreOffice, and also Microsoft's web-based version of Office.

I think so. LO is now bundled with Ubuntu/Mint releases instead of OO.
