Mico Service

I bought a Mico Espejo R311 DVD Recorder from Sainsburys in November last year (£67.50 for an unused ex-display - Bargain
). It worked great until last Wednesday evening when I turned it on to archive something from my Sky+ box and... nothing.
The following day I rang Mico's support line (the number is on their website) and explained the problem. They guy explained that they would bring a replacement unit (reconditioned) out in a flight case and replace mine. I could have had it the following day if I had been in, but arranged Monday instead.
Sure enough Monday afternoon, a Parceline van pulls up, a man with a flight case jumps out, swaps the units and off he goes. The replacement unit is working fine and Mico have got a happy customer.
Great service, no hassle and no cost.
What more can you ask?

I bought a Mico DVD Recorder from Sainsbury's over a year ago.
It started having intermittent problems after 3 months. These became steadily worse resulting in many recordings being lost.
I contacted Mico directly and was impressed with their service. Someone collected the machine from my home and gave me an identical replacement.
Sadly this 2nd machine began developing similar errors after 2 months and finally refused to work at all. This time Mico Service was none existent. I had no reply to 4 emails over 3 weeks. It's as if there's no one there any more.
I called my local Sainsbury's store and they were fantastic, offering a replacement with a more expensive Philips model at no cost. Sainsbury's were also very impressive in helping me get the original item delivered with my home shopping back in 2004. At the time this was done as a one off special favour to me and involved an employee collecting the DVD from another store, taking to his home, taking it to work the next morning and putting it in the van with my eggs and bacon!
Did anyone else have problems with those Mico DVD Recorders which many people snapped up in 2004 via a posting on MSE ?Keep smiling!0
