Laptop Running Slow

hiya guys :hello:


just did a defrag on my laptop last night and now my laptop is running redicuolously slow

Ive run AVG, Spybot, AVG Anti-spyware and adaware and they have found nothing.

Any chance some one can have a look at my hi-jack this log and see if anything is lurking maliciously in the background please

i generally sweep my system with the above programs and always up date them.

try MSconfig

Its a symple process

go to http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

From your PC go to start --- > Run --- > Type "Msconfig" - without the speech marks

Then you shoul see a system configuration utility box

click on start up tab

then you should see list of start up names

Type them in that website ...it will tell you wether you should tick it or untick it...

try doing virus scan in safe mode...

My PC does that occasionally.

Do a bit of surfing then delete the temporary internet files and cookies then reboot. Stop all running programs and run another defrag.

Haven't got a clue why it does it or how this works, but it does for me.

ive tried stopping that file before and also ctfmon.exe (which is attributed to microsoft office toolbar, but i dont have the toolbar running for this. ) but they keep coming back any ideas how to stop them permently?

any help would be much appreciated

yeah ive tried doing that as well the thing is i think my laptop may be in need of upgrading in all honesty cos it has 256MB of Ram although on Ccleaner it shows only 191MB so im thinking that the rest is shared for graphics, etc, plus it is an AMD Sempron processor 2600 which under My Computer properties is showing as running at 801mhz.

So basically its quite possible theres too many things running at once for the poor thing lol
