My son has cremated a jacket potato in the microwave (it was actually on fire) so my microwave is now all black on the inside which I can't clean off with a scourer and water.
Is there something that wil clean it and if so will it be safe to use again?

You can try bicarbonate of soda moistened with a bit of water to make a paste, then with a dishcloth, scrub your microwave with the paste. It will also help remove the burned smell.

I did the same thing with an onion bhaji. Took weeks to get rid of the stink, but the actual microwave was fine. I just had to make sure I didn't cook anything sweet in it for a while!
A bowl of water with half a lemon in it will help shift it, butI found it really just needed time and lots of cleaning to work its way out of the system.0 -
Oddly enough the easiest way to clean a microwave is to turn it upside down( having removed the turntable first) This means you can clean the sides and top more easily without craning your neck. It is quite easy to do tho` cumbersome but well worth it. I then cleaned with a cleaning solution and cloth.0

Hi all
I've been very lucky due to a kind soul who has given us a two year old double oven from Freecycle. The only thing is it has a very horrible smoke stain on it near the grill at the bottom. It looks like the previous owner has tried to remove it by scrumbing off the plastic coating.
Any ideas please??
Many thanks

Hi madsmum

We have a very recent thread on a similar subject and so I've added your post onto it in the hopes that this will help.
Posts are listed in date order, so you'll need to read from the beginning.
Good luck

If it is burnt on, there is very little that will hide it! You may just have to live with it.madsmum wrote:The only thing is it has a very horrible smoke stain on it near the grill at the bottom. It looks like the previous owner has tried to remove it by scrumbing off the plastic coating.
