6 Months Deposit Up Front

Hi

Im currently trying to rent a property. I have been asked to provide six months rent in advance and just wanted to know if after the 6 months will I then go to paying monthly?

Thanks

Probably. Or you could get issued with a Section 21 a fortnight after you've moved in in an attempt to end the tenancy.

Its not unheard of to ask for 6 months in advance, especially if your credit rating is not all it could be. Don't call it a deposit, as its 6 months rent - you will probably be asked for a deposit on top of this amount.

I would guess it will go monthly after that, but its up to your LL.

Providing the tenancy agreement specifies the rent is due monthly, then yes. be careful though that you do not create a six month statutory periodic agreement for the tenancy. Read it very carefully

Is this forward rent in addition to a deposit?

Make sure that you have receipts for the whole amount and a statement as to how it is to be allocated.
