Vodafone Mobile Insurance

Hi,
Quick question about Vodafones mobile phone insurance. Background is:
Took out a 12 month contract last year and within a month or two the phone (Nokia 6230i) would stop responding and come up with "Insert Sim Card" on the screen. (There's nothing wrong with the sim card). It has done this once every few weeks since. I renewed the contract last week and chose to keep the phone. As part of the new deal they threw in 3 months free mobile insurance. So my questions are:
1. The phone is technically under manufacurers warranty still (1 month left), should I send it back for repair to them or claim on the insurance. Bearing in mind the error can't be replicated on demand, therefore could appear to be fine when they come to test it?
2. Will they take my word the phone is faulty or could they test it and declare the phone is fine? - Both on the insurance and manufacturers warranty?
Thanks

Hi,
The following section on the Vodafone website should give a clearer picture of when to make a claim:
http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=template11&pageID=OS_0052&tabIndex=1
It does sound like it may be a loose connection between the SIM and phone itself. Does a connection come in to play if you apply pressure to the back of the battery (in turn maybe forcing down the SIM) when the error message appears?
As the phone is still within the original warranty I'd perhaps suggest going down the repair route via a Vodafone store (this way the store could examine the equipment first on the off chance the fault may replicate, and maybe give you extra advice on the spot / before sending off for repair).0
