Breville Kettles

My last kettle was a Breville. They were a good brand apparently but mine, and my parent's (a different model) didn't last long so would never buy one again. My parent's stopped working and they had it changed a couple of times. Mine was badly designed, it had a water filter then stopped working. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

I have had mine about 8 months now.
I paid about £50-60 I recall...0 -
That is awful and the reply from customer service stinks!Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090

I've got a Breville iron. It's dreadful. I am rather hoping it breaks soon!0

Just exchanged my kettle at Currys. Took a make called Sandstrom which I've never heard before but which I'm hoping lasts longer than our Breville kettles. Sent another e-mail to Breville telling them I've started a thread here - they're not bothered.0

I got a Breville kettle from John Lewis about 2 years ago, very swish, see though and lit up when it was boiling. It started leaking within 3 months and was replaced twice for the same fault within a 6 month period.
In the end I went back to my £4 Argos cookworks kettle I've had since 1999, it's not rapid boil or anything fancy but it does the trick!0 -
My 5 year old Argos Value Cookworks £5 kettle is still going strong
, as is the £6 steamer bought in the sale about 4 years ago.
Oops, whereas the above is going strong and it's the kettle used when doing house renovations, builders in etc etc...just noticed our main kettle is a Breville Classique, that must have been good for 5+years too. We are in a hard water area, and I pick the cheapest kettle off the shelf of Curry's that is cordless and not too garish.
Just had a look at some of the latest Breville designs, they're a bit poncey aren't they.0 -

Some are very nice but no good to any of us if they don't work.0 -
From my own experience either the cheapest or expensive is the better option.
The cheap £5 Cookworks has already been mentioned, and they do seem to go on and on, probably because they are simple.
I got fed up of spending £30 - £50 on a kettle only for them to start leaking or fail so treated myself to a Siemens £100 kettle because I got £20, that was 11 years ago, it still looks and works like new.0
