How do I change supplier on a new address

I am about to move home to a rented property in July, The current tennant is on Scottish Power and I am on Npower. The landlord has said we can change to any provider we want as long as we sort it out.

Can anyone guide me what I do to change supplier ?

Do I move in on Scottish power and then shop around or can I shop around now using my Npower info and get the changes done ready for the move in on 01/08/11.

Any advise would be helpful

As far as I'm aware you have to start off on the property's current supplier, then switch.

You need it in your name before you can switch. You'll have to move in, give them readings and your details, then you can apply to switch as soon as you have.

    Hi ShazaG

When you leave your current property, make sure you call npower to give us a final meter reading so we can close your account.

You will then need to call Scottish Power to let them know that you have moved in and also give them a meter reading to open a new account. You will then be free to shop around.

If your new property is significantly different in size, it's best not to use the information from your old property and instead, find out the previous occupier's energy usage and base it on that if you can?

    Hope this helps?
