Expenses when raising money

I am involved in a club were we would like to sponsor a charity. This will involve us holding events etc., which will inevitably involve some expenses. This will of course be kept to a minimum, but marquees etc are not free.

The events will be advertised, that the money (after expenses) will go to this particular charity. I'm expecting about 80% of the money to go direct to them, and all expenses will be accounted for.

Has anybody got any experience of this?

Thanks

You need to discuss what you plan and how you plan to do it with the charity.

More than that, you need them to approve you using their name to raise funds for them.

However, by doing that you should also get their support / ideas / experience, and possibly even contacts who might give you a free or cheap marquee hire etc.

  • Work out what you could get free like supermarkets could donate food and people in the club might have decorations then work out what you subtract from your total.
    New year, new comper here!
Wins for January- 2 free chapsticks, Celebrations.
  • You could try and get freebees. Perhaps the Marquee company will give you a discount for rental if you tell them it's for a charity event. Some companies do this...
