Hi all
I currently use a Gmail free account for my emails and I want to get something a bit more professional-looking.
I assume I'll need to register some sort of domain with someone, but I don't want a website (don't know if that makes any difference).
I want to keep my gmail account for personal use and be able to send emails as though through that account as well.
I've also got a Tiscali account I need to access.
So, now the questions:-
1) Can someone recommend somewhere that will allow me email only hosting (preferably IMAP)?
2) Can I use my new email account to collect the email from the other two and appear to send from them as well?
3) Any ideas on cost?
4) Am I missing anything that I should have thought of?

I bought a domain from 1and1.co.uk and got email hosting from them as well, then just setup your email client to use it. Look on the website for costs.0

May be a free Freeola 500 email address account.
For example you could have rmg1@ukbusiness.com.
http://freeola.com/freeola500/full-free-email-addresses.php
Al you then need to do is set up the POP3/IMAP for incoming from Freeola and route the SMTP outgoing for the rmg1@ukbusiness.com through your existing ISP's servers.604!0 -
Just set up the gmail account to handle all of them - it will reply as if it is each individual account - I'm on the way out so can't go into the details but if you google it, it's easy enough to set up.0

I could do that, but I wanted all my work-related emails to have a more professional address rather than the gmail one (hence the original question).
I also wanted to keep my other two accounts as well (the gmail for everyday use and the Tiscali one for any websites or offers that may spam me).:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Buy the domain you want, costs around £3 - £4 a year, no need to pay extra for an email package.
you need to register it with a company that allows you to change the dns and mx records,
most do but some dont. https://www.ukreg.com are one of the cheapest
then get a google apps account www.google.com/a click solutions and the free version.
then click get started and follow through the process.
This will allow you to use gmail to manage your emails, with an email address like you@mydomain.co.uk
You will also be able to pull in all your emails from various other email accounts and send emails from any named
email address on your google account0 -

That's my point - once you've set it up, it reply with whatever email address you want - so if you buy "blogtron.co.uk", then it reply as if it is blogtron.co.uk rather than with the gmail one.0 -

If he simply wants to use it for email and not any of the other apps, then the standard gmail account will do it.0 -

Same here - had 1&1 for 4 years now, and it's never missed a beat; IMAP or pop3 whichever you prefer.0 -
Right, I've done a bit of research and I think I'm going to buy a domain name to use from 1 and 1.
Now, does someone have a walkthrough to help me set up my email accounts on it?
I need to do the following:-
Main account will be for business use.
Gmail account will be kept and still used for personal stuff.
Tiscali account will be kept for possible spam attacks.
I'll want my main account to collect the emails from the Gmail and Tiscali account and reply as if from them (I have the IMAP settings for both if it helps).
An idiots guide would be very welcome.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Hard to do via 1and1 as far as I can remember (I am with 1and1) - it's easier to do it the other way and have it go to the gmail account and have that reply as all the email addresses. Also the 1and1 webmail is absolutely awfu.
Having said that, I take it you are using a desktop client? Maybe something could be done there.0
