How quickly do Scottish Power refund credit balances?
We'll be moving away from Scottish Power due to their recently announced price rises and our online tariff coming to an end.
When we leave them at the end of July, we will be something like £350 in credit. How quickly, and by what means, can we expect them to refund this money to us?
Thanks.

My experience of extracting a refund from Scottish Power was less than satisfactory!
I waited for around 6 weeks, and still the promised refund (by cheque) had not arrived. I telephoned them and was told they would put the cheque in the post, which they duly did.
I suspect that my credit balance was sat in their books, waiting until I chased them for payment.:(0 -

and yet Scottish power are the cheapest for me when I come off Eon's fixonline 8.0 -
Wouldn't stay with them out of principle now, it's outrageous that they get away with saying 19%/10% rises when people on here are reporting rises of 60% plus. My own rise on their new prices would be over 50%.0

Gas up 45% and Electricity up 31% for me. On OES10. They owe me £106 at the time of writing. This will be in the region of £136 by the end of July.
Moved to OVO New Energy fixed tariff. I'll be paying £50 per month to OVO, as opposed to £43 per month at the moment to SP.0 -
Tempted by Ovo, but a little put off that they don't try and give you a fixed direct debit payment through the year. They whack up the DD in the winter, then put it down in the summer.
This doesn't really help with trying to budget month by month.0 -

Once i've got my refund from SP, i'll pass it straight on to OVO ready for the winter quarter. I only use about £30 worth of fuel in the summer, so will be clicking £20 a month overpayment until the end of September. This should mean i'll be in the region of £0 balance by April 2012 and won't need any alterations to payment.0 -
Good idea actually, I could use the refund from Scottish Power to cover the increased fuel direct debits for the winter.
Thanks0 -
They told me my refund cheque was posted on 06 June - still not arrived!!0
