bedroom flooring

hi
i have cleared my bedroom & plan to redecorate.
Problem is my carpet, i think it was a cheapy one, and its rucked where the old lady before used to shuffle, it also comes away from the grippers at the edges.
So i think i need a new carpet or flooring.
I'm thinking it might be easier to go for wood or wood effect vinyl what with it being easier to clean & hopefully wont trap dust etc
does anyone else have wood effect flooring in their bedrooms?

When I was a kid people had bare wood floors in the bedroom because they were too poor to have any other floor covering. This fascination with ill fitting floorboards in bedrooms is a mystery to me and others of my age.I can afford anything that I want.

We must be the same age :rotfl:
If you couldn't have carpet down you must be in the poor house.
Bare boards with rugs on were a no-no.
I think I would be really cold now, spoilt brat that I am, if we got rid of our bedroom carpets.

I would go for a nice carpet, as Barneysmom says it's easy to run the vac over. Whereas if you have laminate, wood or vinyl the dust bunnies aren't going to get trapped in pile but scoot about the surface far more obviously than with carpet. If you have a hard floor put down you'll have to have a few rugs down or it'll be very cold in winter.0

My son has just had his lounge, dining room and hallway carpeted after ripping up all the laminate. They reckon that they were continually having to vacuum all the fluff and bits off the laminate floor. I must say that the lounge feels a lot homelier with the carpet than it did with the laminate.I can afford anything that I want.

Sanded and varnished the floorboards in an upstairs bedroom once. Didn't last long before I carpeted it. So much noise came through the floor.
