Hi in may 2005 purchased a hotpoint washer dryer from currys for £500, never been completly happy with it - it is a built in appliance although the dryer created so much condensation had to keep cupboard door open, then 2 days out of guarantee it broke down, wouldn't dry, hotpoint waived the charge after i wrote to complain and they came and fixed the thing
Now today the thing has broken again, won't work and door locked - can't believe it an expensive machine am totally peeved and can't afford to buy another one
need help on how to proceed and what to say to hotpoint surely this is disgusting???

If the door wont open there is more than likely water still in the drum. Not sure if there is a filter to check on this machine. If not there is probably something stuck in the pump.0

Is your machine door locked after it has done a wash? If so, as cagey says, it may have water in it. Try putting it on a spin cycle to drain it, then try the door again. If still no good, the machine will need to be drained manually (check instruction book) after disconnecting from power. If it has locked with an empty drum check if your instruction book mentions a remote release.
A 2005 £500 washer should be better than this - check with your local Trading Standards office for suitable advice.
Last but not least (but I bet you've already decided this) buy something else next time. Miele is an excellent machine and you can get a first class lengthy warranty of 5 years (some 10 years, I think) included in the price. We have had a Miele for 10 years and only had to replace the doorseal (once) after it was pierced by a piece of underwiring from a brassiere.0
