Embarrassing - gym clothes for larger lady!

I just joined a gym today, was expecting to feel humiliated watching the stick insects exercising with leotards up their backsides but none were to be seen!
Anyway, I need some tracksuit bottoms or something to wear to the gym, have loads of t shirts but I am a size (cringe) 24. Do you know where I can get gym clothes in larger sizes? I havent been to Evans, Tesco didnt have anything, havent looked anywhere else as yet.

If you have a Primark anywhere near you I don't know if their jog bottoms are big enough but worth a look as they are very cheap. Also Bon Marche: last time I was buying trousers I was pleasantly surprised to find a CHOICE of styles which fitted me whereas everywhere else I was lucky to find one style!
Best of luck at the gym!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
i felt i had to post to say dont put your self down, when you said cringe after your size,i just felt like dont be ashamed of yourself
i know what the gyms are like but i can promise that noone is looking at you thinking bad of you, everyone is there for the same reason, think of it this way if people werent a bit overweight there would be no gyms to go to
good luck with finding some trackies, and good luck in getting fit!appreciate what you have got x0 -
I go to the gym with my husband on a regular occasion now and Im no small fry either. The worst part is going for the first time. Stepping through that door. I expected it to be full of posers and women in aerobic outfits (you know the ones, cheese string up their rears) but its nothing like that. I take a personal cd player (with neckband headphones) and get absorbed into the music. I take little notice of who else is there.
Anyways ... try here for clothes. Its free delivery so you can order and try them on at home in your own time.

Thanks people, found some in Evans today
I dont really worry what other people think but I hate being big, I havent always been like this and just want to be the size I used to be. Went to the gym this morning (I joined with my mother in law) and did 90 mins in the gym and 6 lengths in the pool. Good thing about it is its a JJB Leisure centre so all sorts of people, retired, mums etc. Didnt feel embarrassed at all

Have you seen the "I wanna lose weight " thread?
It has some good ideas on there and helps me get motivated when I feel down. It helps remind me I am not the only one struggling with my weight. Even when I have lost 2 stone - I am still conscious that I have at least 2 and a half stone to lose.
My under active thyroid is being sorted out but hubbie thinks "that is an excuse!" He may be right but to have it pointed out that he cannot understand how I let myself get into such a state in the first place- does not help me feel motivated or in control.
I realise he cares about me and cannot stand the thought of my being "ill" - he is not being deliberately nasty- but it gets you down!
Fell free to p.m. me if I can be any help.

I'm late coming into this thread, but it is one I care passionately about.
Its not an excuse elona, hypothyroidism is a real and crippling condition which was not taken nearly seriously enough for many years.
It really does help when you get the right level of medication.
Sorry to hijack your thread Tiff, i hope you found gym clothes, I'ts well worth the struggle.0 -
