Mondeo alarm driving me mad
My 2000 Mondeo alarm keeps going off, and it is driving me mad. I cannot get any advice from garages (just leave it with us mate!!!).
I do not know where the sensors are, or what they look like, and I would really love to disable the alarm altogether, because I do not think that anyone would really wish to steal it.
Cheers.

Do the hazards flash with the alarm?
If so then it's a sensor or door switch problem.
If not, then my money is on the backup battery inside the alarm/siren (which will be NiMH rechargeable and only designed to last 5 years).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Is this the horn alarm or a siren, it may just be the power sounder alarm that has its own battery.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I used to drive a Mondeo (company car) and it had exactly the same problem.
We traced to the bonnet switch which was faulty, and it was fixed by changing it with one from the local scrapyard.
This was changed by the company mechanic so I'm afraid I don't know the exact location of it, but I'm sure that it won't be difficult to find.
You could try operating it a fair few times by hand to clean the contacts, or press the plunger in and jam it with a bit of tape to see if this helps.0 -

My focus bonnet switch is disconnected at the minute as it keeps setting the alarm off, should really get round to replacing it.0

Thanks for all your replies, sorry for not getting back earlier. The back up battery has never been changed AFAIK. I will have a look under the bonnet at the weekend, but I do not know where the sensor or switch is located, and I did hear about people getting the crash sensor muddled up with the alarm sensor.
The horn goes off (very loudly, along with the lights), and then the lights flash by themselves. Then it all goes quiet, and sometimes starts all over again after a while. If it does this, then I simply leave it unlocked!0
