Negative feedback removal.

Hello all, I was wondering what the chance of having my neg removed by eBay are.
I sold an iPhone a couple of weeks ago, and I believed it to be fully working. The seller, almost as soon as he'd gone back home, said that the signal was messing about, which I am sure it wasn't as I had used it fine just moments before it left. He quite happily kept it for another 4 days before want a refund last weekend. I asked him to return it, and he did, and I processed the payment the same night.
However, PayPal temporarily put a hold on the payment, meaning it did not go through until Friday (this infuriated him even more!)
I left positive feedback and a message saying that the refund has processed; I answered all of his emails and responded politely, even face to face I didn't get angry. Yet this morning, I've been negged, I don't know what else I could have done except kissed his backside.

So, in short, how can I appeal to eBay to get this removed and is there a chance of it being removed?

/rant

Thanks :(
Ps - Good morning moneysavers! :rotfl:

Unfortunately it does not meet any of the criteria for being removed.

I would also check your expanded seller dashboard to see if he has hit your stars as well as for smaller sellers stars 1 or 2 * are almost as important as feedback.

Totally agree with Soolin. Just to add I know its a bit late (but is useful to know) but if it was the 21 day hold you can actually refund the payment when its on hold to stop any delays.

What is the criteria for a neg being removed. Not wishing to hijack the thread but ive recently been neg'd unfairly because the buyer changed her mind after she won the item and i invoiced her instead of taking it on the chin and moving on/relisting it.

No the payment went through straight away, but there was a temporary hold for 5 working days before it got sent back to him after I'd processed the refund.

I still think I'm being hard done by, it's not fair how they can neg you, he was rude and extremely arrogant but oh well. I could still try an appeal.

Did you allow a collection of an IPhone4 and let them pay with paypal?!?! If yes, then you're VERY brave, and lucky to have phone back!

Is it the same phone that has been returned?

Just respond to the neg with "instant full refund given. phone still works as described".

There is nothing you can do to have it removed, as the buyer obviously felt it was a negative experience.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I would still try. If the phone now works OK - point out it was the mobile signal in the area the buyer lived and not the phone (unless its one of them iphones with signal problems).

As for the hold on the refund - i have never heard of a refund being held before.
  • you could try though it's doubtful they will remove.
Have you sent a feedback revisal request to the buyer? They might do the decent thing.
I had an auction end recently - the buyer bought a few things from me. I noticed some damage to one of the items so when I sent the invoice with combined postage said about the scratch and that i'd removed all costs from the invoice and i'd send it free of charge.
He negatived me because saying the item was in terrible condition don't buy from me yada yada yada. Refused to revise the feedback saying but it was damaged. Ebay told me they won't removed it and are now ignoring me.
You have got to love buyers and their thought process as to what is a negative experience

Only on Ebay would someone leave a neg for an item thrown in for free - the type of response regularly spurred on by a few members on MSE.

Honestly it was held, it was pending for five days which didn't help and infuriated him even more.

if he paid cash then it wouldnt have been a "proper" paypal refund, so it would have been your own cash going to him which is why it may have had the hold on it,
like the others said, just add a note to the feedback, you could even wait a few days and ask him to remove it if hes calmed down a bit
