Let's face it, it isn't that hard to do. you squeeze the nipple and hold the baby in various different positions, to see what works. hold the baby like a rugby ball.

Let's hope the job doesn't go to you!

Only in the areas where volunteers are available. This appears to be one of them.

Yes, but it makes sense to have a paid employee to co-ordinate volunteers.

Even I know that you have to be careful when breastfeeding and make sure you hold your cigarette at arms length. Can I apply for the job?

Yes, but it makes sense to have a paid employee to co-ordinate volunteers.

Why, if there are volunteers prepared to do it?

Because the co ordination is a full time job, to make sure there are enough volunteers at each time and you can't expect people to work full time for free.

    Spot on horsey.

People should be left alone to do what they want. Not have money stolen off them to pay for this type of !!!!!!.

    And another thing ...

Fertility treatment should not be free either.

I did at a nurse, watching a baby crying of stalvation at 5 days old and still going on at my wife of not giving it chance.
They finally gave in and said he could be "topped up" did that and he necked the bottle in no time. (so fairly obvious there was something wrong).
My wife still tried but it was to late we were on of the traitors and my son had moved to the dark side.

Same thing happened to us, i had to go to the countess of chester at 1 am for some formula because my little one was not able to feed and my wife was left feeling it was her fault for not persevering with it. She was screaming the house down and the midwife was still trying to get her on the breast....lunatics the lot of them..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

if you look at the bbc news site you will see that babies should now be in backward facing seats up until the age of 4. and last week these people were telling us to make them face forward from 10 months. and all for 50k a year. bargain!

Folk in favour of this spending are not looking at the trade-offs.

Would you rather have someone given an extra 6-12 months to live with a new cancer drug or pay a year's salary to a breastfeeding coordinator? And, are you also in favour of jailing someone for not paying taxes while knowing it is being spent on this job?

I know "breast is best", and I'm an ignorant single male. Why do we need hundreds of people taking 50K+ each (remember NICs and other employment expenses add to the costs of the salary) to tell women this when a 5p per person leaflet does the same job?

    Its public sector decadence.
Why is this a non-job? The medical benefits of breast feeding, for both the mother and the child are well documented, including reductions in incidents of breast cancer for mothers and helping the development of a baby’s brain, eye sight, immune system and digestive system as well as warding off obesity.
You can talk of medical benefits for, say, foodstuffs and exercise regimes too. There are dietricians and physiotherapists but are their an army of coordinators for them as well? If there are they need sacking too. If you have a problem with breastfeeding, your diet or physical recuperation then your GP can direct you to the specialist. There is no need for these administrative middlemen.
They are cheaper than paying a midwife or doctor, who have little time for this anyway and I feel that anything that can prevent cancer, obesity and boost the immune system in general will more than pay for itself in saving NHS funds over the child's lifetime.
They seem to cost more than midwifes. The idea that prevention saves NHS money is shown to be false time and time again. In 1950 the NHS cost 2% of GDP, it now costs 8.5% of GDP.

If this is a pointless job then surely GPs should stop treating erectile disfunction or smoking ceasation. After all, we all have a choice and neither are a necessity.
False equivalence. Erectile dysfunction is a physical illness that needs to be treated by doctors and nurses. A breastfeeding coordinator is an administrative job for advisers.
