I have just bought 2 chickens for tea tonight from ASDA done everything else myself, roasties the lot, opened up my "cooked" chickens and found the legs all rubbery and blood all inside and breast also not cooked properly, , a bit worried as i had already given a bit to my 15 month old daughter before I noticed, everyones tea was not the same without the meat and didn't have anything else in to replace the meat and anyway I wouldn't have had enough time to do anything anyway.
I am not sure what to do, I don't want to just take the chicken back as 1. it is not convenient and 2. I think that this is a little more of a serious issue that 'sorry here is a refund'

This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.

I think my daughter would be my foremost concern here.0

Maybe the health dept. would be interested in this.0

Yes, my main concern is for my daughter, anyway I phoned ASDA HO customer services( their concerns did not mirror mine!!) and the only thing I could do to was to return the chickens, I have been back and they have refunded me and given me a goodwill gesture, however i have still retained part of the chicken as you so rightly say that this should be dealt with by the health department ~ all ASDA were only going to bin the chickens!!!
My daughter is still full of beans with no ill efffects ......yet:AThis is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.Robert M. Hutchins0 -
I should imagine if it was going to make your daughter ill it would of done by now. I take it you were eating round about 5 - 6pm? keep an eye on her for 6 hours though to be on the safe side but if anything was to appear it does so quicker the younger the person. ASDA obviously seem to be playing it down so as not to cause major concern but that doesn't make it right. If my memory serves me correctly though i think all chickens are now vaccinated against salmonella, if i'm wrong i' am sure and i hope someone will correct me.0

Might be an idea to check with NHSDirect as far as the little one is concerned, hope she is ok.
I would contact the headquarters of Asda and complain from the top, they soon will find the best person to deal with it quickly for you I should imagine.0 -
To Be Honest The Chicken As You Say Was Not Cooked Properly , Complaints Like These Are 10 To The Dozen To The Enviromental Health Dept Etc Etc At The End Accidents Happen , Asda Are Aware It May Happen Again In Future Who Dosnt Make Mistakes ? Just Keep An Eye On Little One If Shes Ok Then Id Forget About It Now And Move On0

My daughter if fine!!!! No ill effects
Anyway I m going to write a letter of complaint to ASDA as the attitude and severe lack of concern stank from the HO customer service department.
Thanks peeps for all your replies, the main thing is my daughter is fine:AThis is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.Robert M. Hutchins0 -
I would still contact Environmental Health. it looks like an offence has been comitted under food safety legislation. there may also be other cases involved, and something somwhere is seriously wrong with their processes and procedures for this to happen. It is things like this that lead to salmonella outbreaks, cross contamination of other foodstuffs and so on.
It is not a light matter.Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!0 -
